Gather

We gather together every Wednesday evening from around 7.30pm.  We each host so the location changes weekly.

We share a meal together.

Jesus ate with tax collectors, ‘sinners’ and outcasts. Jesus fed 5000 with loaves and fishes. Jesus ate with Priests and Pharisees. Jesus ate with women. Jesus told stories and parables about banquets. Jesus ate Passover with his disciples. Jesus ate a final supper with his disciples sharing his life through bread and wine. The Risen Jesus made and ate breakfast with his disciples on the shores of the Sea of Tiberius. The Risen Jesus shared a meal with his disciples as they journeyed to Emmaus. The first Christian community ate together as part of their worship and community.

Jesus gathered a new community around a meal.

This meal gathers us around Jesus.

It reminds us who we are and what we are called to do. A meal where all are welcome, a meal that builds relationship, a meal that offers us a glimpse of the Kingdom of God amongst us, a meal where Jesus is present, a meal that is subversive, a meal that speaks of hope, peace, healing and New Creation; a meal that at its heart is missional.

We share a short liturgy together and pray for the needs of our community.  We then read scripture and reflect on it’s meaning for our lives.

Monthly: Second Sunday
